The Northern California Glass Management Association (NCGMA) represents union glass installation contractors. Our primary purpose is to represent and promote the best interests of our members in all areas of labor relations.
We also keep members informed about current business trends, provide a place for members to go for legislation and regulatory issues, and provide educational training programs for owners and their office personnel.

The Northern California Glass Management Association has been very active in the second quarter of this year. On March 16th we co-hosted a seminar with ASA on Subcontractor Default Insurance Coverage and Bonding presented by John Daley, Area Senior VP for Gallagher Construction Services.
March 30th NCGMA hosted a luncheon for all DC 16 signatory glazing contractors at which time DC 16 Director of Organizing, John Sherak and Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer Doug Christopher shared the details of the Union’s revitalized “Market Recovery Program.”
On April 12, 2010 we sponsored our third EPA Lead Abatement certification class. Due to demand we have scheduled a fourth and final eight hour certification class for EPA Lead Abatement which is scheduled for August 26, 2010 and is already filled.
John Kusper attended the Construction Industry Legislative Conference on April 21st in Sacramento. The meeting highlighted SB 189 on Mechanics Liens and gave him a chance to share our views with our Senators’ representatives.
In the last few months there has been a lot of activity via e-mails and conference calls by a sub-committee comprised of the FCA, FTI, IUPAT and interested contractors involving Photovoltaic Systems. Their three goals are: Avoid jurisdictional battles, Inform contractors and increase their knowledge base so that they are confident in bidding this type of work and Train labor. They are going to present a plan at the FCA Annual Council meeting in New York and Joe Brescia will be representing our interests.
On May 19, 2010 Rich Lawler from Arlington Associates LLC gave a presentation to contractors covering safety regulations and mod rates.
June 8th the ASA in conjunction with NCGMA sponsored the “How to be Profitable in Any Economy” seminar.

The Association receives many calls regarding employee relations and the application or interpretation of the CBA with DC16. Do not hesitate to contact us for assistance since one of the Association’s primary purposes is to represent and promote the best interests of our members.
We would like to hear from you:
The Association has in the past provided to its membership a variety of seminars such as sexual harassment, OSHA compliance, sales & marketing and workers compensation. In order to assist the membership in staying up to date and informed the Association will continue to provide such educational seminars. However, the Association would also appreciate suggestions on subjects of mutual benefit from any contractor. Don’t hesitate to contact us.
